Strength to Surrender Workshop at The River

  • The RIver Power Vinyasa 1212 Delaware Street Denver, CO, 80204 United States (map)

Finding your “edge” in yoga requires listening to not only your body, but also to your heart and your mind; trusting that inner guide that comes from within.  Mindfully toeing the lines of our “limits” is what makes us stronger.  Learn how to invite challenges into your life and turn them into opportunities though the use of your own instincts, knowledge, and ability to trust and surrender.

Join Becky on a journey of discovering your “inner guide” that leads you to that internal place of purity and trust that is always there no matter what life may look like on the “outside.”  We will touch on the importance of needing to let go in order for transformation to occur and on finding courage to do so.  It takes strength to let go and trust, and we will work towards that as we explore the meaning behind the Niyama, Ishvara Pranidhana.

This journey inward will include a combination of an intense physical practice with thought provoking information, journaling, discussion, meditation, and long savasana that will allow the students to realize and connect with the importance of working as hard as they can but knowing when it is okay to stop, let go, and know it is okay to surrender (that it is even necessary sometimes).

Becky is a 500 hour RYT, 200 hour ERYT, RCYT and trained under Arlene Bjork through Grace Yoga Training Systems and with Jennifer Elliot at Om On Yoga.  Among many other lessons, one of the biggest that Arlene shared with Becky was the importance of finding contentment and acceptance of life as it presents itself to you.  She is currently an Ambassador for Lululemon Athletica, Project Yoga Richmond, and YoKid.  Becky is also shares yoga with children though YoKid and the “Yoga with Nitya” formats.

Becky strongly believes that she did not find yoga…yoga found her.  Yoga has been very healing for Becky, as it gives her a way to stay balanced mentally and physically.  It has opened her eyes to so many beautiful philosophies and ways of living, and it has led her to meet many astounding individuals.  When life gets crazy and uncertain, there is one thing that she is certain of yoga will always be there.  It is a gift that keeps on giving.  Becky is honored and grateful to be able to share the gift of yoga with others.  Namaste.

Power yoga instructor, Margo Buchanan uses her physical practice on the mat, as a way to check in with what is going on off the mat.  Growing up as a competitive gymnast, Margo fell in love with the strength and endurance that the challenge of power yoga gives her.  However, after completing Level One with Baron Baptiste, she experienced a transformation in her personal power, recognizing her ability to create a life that nourishes her.  She supports and encourages her students to push past discomfort and into possibility.  Margo received her 200-hour Teacher Training at her home studio, Down Dog, a Baptiste afilliated studio in Washington, DC and is currently working towards becoming a Baptiste Certified Instructor.  She is also certified to teach yoga to children of all ages and uses her yoga philosophy in her clinical work as a child therapist in her day job.
