Flow, relax, and Chaturanga Dandasana into a weekend full of centering the mind, feeding the soul, and inspiring self-discovery on September 21 and 22. Blending elements of wellness and mindfulness in a natural, outdoor setting, Whitewater’s Flow Fest features a variety of yoga classes and workshops across the spectrum to invigorate and energize both the curious first-timers and the seasoned yogi. Start your weekend with a morning guided hike through the trails for sunrise yoga or down dog under the tree canopies with an afternoon restorative class. Whether you are looking to elevate your practice to the next level or seek out tips and techniques on inversions and energy healing, there is plenty of opportunity to engage on and off the mat. Set your weekend intention, come for ten classes or for one, sample kombucha from local brewers, and unwind as you flow into the evening melodies from River Jam Stage’s musical performances.
As with all Whitewater festivals, Flow Fest is open to the public and does not require tickets. The majority of the practices and workshops are free to participate in, however, a select few have spatial limitations or registration requirements.
Join me from 1:30 to 3:00pm for “The Language of Nature Poetry Hike”
“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.”― John Muir. The trees sing, the mountains listen, the flowers dance in gentle breezes, and the water reminds us to go with the flow. Nature is always speaking but are we listening? We will explore the beautiful outdoors of North Carolina with pieces of poetry interspersed throughout this adventure. Mary Oliver might remind us to shine like the trees while John Muir will help us to recall the healing medicine of the mountains. Be sure to bring your own journal to allow your own voice to be heard as we will reflect and write in the sacred energy of nature.
